ONLINE TICKETS CAN BE BOUGHT HERE

ICAN, English Speaking Club in Minsk, invites speakers of English to take part in the English Pronunciation Contest on April 23, 2019.
Manner and matter/ form and content/ form and substance – all these relate to one of the fundamental philosophical oppositions. Yes, our communication is all about conveying a message, but the way we do that affects the process of communication so much that it often determines the success. The English say, "Fine feathers make fine birds." In terms of communication it means that is the speaker's sounds are not intelligible, the whole message will be wastes, for no one will be able to hear it.
Good pronunciation in a foreign language does not come but itself. To succeed, one needs to know the correct position of the articulators and practice enough to make the movements habitual. The purpose of the contest is to encourage the participants to work on pronunciation.

The contest will include three tasks:
1. Pronunciation of unfamiliar words with transcription
2. Pronunciation of a tong twister

3. Reading a passage

The winner will get a CERTIFICATE  +  a PRIZE: one month 50% discount + a souvenir.
You can find the resources on the web-site of ICAN club.

Resources:
1) the video of a workshop that will help you gain more control of the articulators

2) the course by Adrian Underhill

3) the Interactive Phonemic Charts App

4) Adrian Underhill's Phonemic chart

5) a site to study transcription and to type it
