Discover the Cultural Heritage of Belarus

Discover the Cultural Heritage of Belarus

We have been very lucky lately, because a few exceptional personalities have joined ICAN Club. Today I preset one of them. Please, welcome: Julia Zenkevich, Officer of the Cultural Heritage Protection Department,Institute of Culture of Belarus and also PhD student, Department of Cultural Studies, Belarusian State University.

On June 13, 2017 Julia will tell us about Belarus's World Cultural Heritage.

The turbulent history of Belarus, which over centuries was the battle field for bigger nations that were trying to establish their geopolitical dominance, deprived us of the opportunity to see the glory of our ancestors, whose property was destroyed, looted and trafficked in the course of numerous was, revolutions and political oppressions. Still, there are some sites that are worth visiting and made known to general public. Some of them have already been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, others are still waiting for their turn.

Julia Zenkevich, Cultural Heritage Protection Officer, will present the heritage sites, which are already on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and the new one, which is preparing to go world famous. Be the first to learn about it! Her presentation will be followed by a visual quiz.

Valiantsina Holubeva will also talk about her recent Tatiana Bembel led trip to Hrodna Region, organised by Viapol tour operator and Heritage&Time Foundation, where she visited three historic sites.
