How to Teach IT Students

How to Teach IT Students

Add to favorites
Careers in IT require a high level of English proficiency. Working for IT looks tempting to teachers of the English language: a decent pay, good environment, and the possibility of self-realization as a teacher. So, why not to join?

However, the reality is not so iidyllic as it seems to be, and there are several reasons for this, such as different mind sets of a linguist and an engineer; gender issues; different areas of competence. There is also the inability to properly formulate the requests and wishes, listen and hear each other; lack of flexibility and different understanding of the roles.

All this significantly inhibits the learning process, leads to emotional distress and lowers satisfaction.

We must to do something about it!

IT guys and teachers, let's meet on February 25, 2020 in the ICAN, English Speaking Club, and talk about these issues face to face, looking into the eye of one another. You will have a chance to discuss these issues not with your students/teachers, but with people you are not connected with, and who will voice the typical thoughts of the opponent group.

Not only IT specialists are invited, but also any other professionals who need real English quickly and want to learn it properly. Come and tell the teachers how you would like to have the learning and communication process organised. Teachers, describe a good student: what kind of students are they? Describe the typical mistakes of students in the strategy and tactics of learning the English language, advise how to organize autonomous work and establish productive interaction with the teacher.
