Oriental Party

Oriental Party

Add to favorites

At our Oriental Party we are going to talk about Eastern countries we have travelled and loved, our experiences there and share what we've learned about their culture.
The word "Eastern" and "oriental" are, probably, not politically correct, since they reflect the Eurocentric vision of the world, while it would be more correct to use the names of the continents, like on this map. Traditionally we use these words to refer to the cultures of Asia, which are different from the Slavs, and of Northern Africa, mainly Arabic countries. So, we are going to stick to the old term for brevity.

Every participant will have a chance to speak about an Oriental country they visited supporting their talk with photos, brochures or PowerPoint by their choice. You can prepare a dance, a song, some proverbs, recite poems (all in English) or do something else – just make it interesting. It would be a good idea to make some treats from that country (lots of recipes and videos are available online or you can ask your friends living there, which is even better. No chance to cook – you can buy them. It is essential that you tell us what it is, the ingredients and why you decided to make/bring this particular dish. Do not bring a lot – we do not want to gain extra kilos.
Please, sign up before midnight on Monday May 30, 2016 to experience once again the delight of the East.
