The Word That Made My Day: PechaKucha Challenge

The Word That Made My Day: PechaKucha Challenge

* Preparation Required

This session will combine two essential challenges: (a) developing the precision of expression and (b) increasing fluency.
It will capitalize of the PechaKecha technique, which was introduced to us at the recent #‎TeachersTalkShop Workshop
by Natasha Kaliuzina.
Obviously, PechaKecha requires training, so we will start with simplified task: 5 slides 20 seconds each.

What to talk about?
Let’s talk about words that open a door to the new field of knowledge, that introduce a new concept, thus helping us better understand and communicate something important.
Examples of such words:
Digital divide
Cooptation
Lumbersexual
Downshifter
The word should not be necessarily new, but it should be interesting and provoking.

 How to prepare?

Step 1. Choose the word
Step 2. Prepare five slides to explain the significance of the word you have chosen to present.
Step 3. Prepare (write) a 20-second long talk about each slide.
Step 4. Practice pronouncing this talk within 20 seconds.

A tip: You might wish to record yourself to hear what you are actually saying 
