SPATIAL LITERACY
Have you ever experienced discomfort when during a conversation one of the participants would lean forward preventing you from seeing the faces of the others? Or being in a hurry, you were not able make your way on the escalator, because there was a person right in the middle blocking the movement? Such people do not mean to do harm. They do it out of special illiteracy, simply because no one taught then to check their position in the space of the location. Isn't it time for us to start talking about spatial literacy?

The term "spatial literacy" is used in the field of geolocation. However, it is time to introduce it into communication courses, because people's location in space is a non-verbal way of showing respect, creating a feeling of comfort in communication, and increasing the effectiveness of interaction. At the this session in ICAN, English Speaking Club, we will analyze typical spatial errors and learn how to determine the optimal positions for communication and interaction.
