Why do you need to know about the prosody of English?

We communicate information and attitudes verbally (with the help of words) and non-verbally (with the help of body language, intonation, logical stress, pauses, timbre, tone), which sometimes are even more important than words.

The latter (without the body language, of course) are collectively called "prosody".

On May 15, 2018 you will have a rare opportunity to look into the secrets of the prosody of the  English language and learn how to make your speech more effective without additional language learning. In fact, that's the secret of the best orator: they use simple language and are skilled at prosody. This session in our English speaking Club will show you how to do it.

You will learn:
- what prosodic devices are there to use;

- the difference between the Russian/Belarusian prosody and the English prosody;

- how to use the prosody of the English language to create a desired effect.

Besides, Kirill will make a short talk about his trip to Armenia. He was there at the time of the change of power, so apart from touristic pictures stories, you will have a chance to hear about the circumstances of this process.
