The Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant

The Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant

Add to favorites
  • The explosion at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant occurred on April 26, 1986. This is a terrible tragedy for people who lived nearby, and those who resisted the consequences of the explosion. My grandfather was born in Konotop, which is 300 kilometers from the incident. He said that for several more days people were not informed about the incident. Everyone calmly walked with the children, learning a huge dose of radiation. Due to radiation, a lot of people who were liquidators died. Among them are Viktor Proskuryakov, Leonid Toptunov, Vladimir Shashenok, Anatoly Baranov and others. After some time, grandfather returned to Konotop several times. Radiation did not spare a single acquaintance and grandfather, too. After a while, they had various health problems, but mainly with joints. At the moment, the bulk of the radiation has disappeared. You can even get to Chernobyl with a guided tour. In those places, as if time had stopped, and nature had defeated man.

Dear Sonya,
You have written an interesting and important text. The Chernobyl accident, which was a disaster for our country, should not be forgotten. It should be a lesson of responsibility.
Your text is fluent and easy to understand. However, some mistakes should be corrected:
1. Tenses: If you are writing a story in the past, you should use PAST tenses.
If you switch to the present, like "At the moment", you should use Present Perfect, not Past. Use the table of tenses that I gave to you.
2. Look up the difference between the meanings of "incident" and "accident".
3. Remember the word order: S V O
To improve your writing skills you can do use more input materials. Just read about the subject to harvest the appropriate words.
You could have written these articles

In general, you have good writing skills. Keep practicing. I will look forward to your new posts.
The total score is 592 points. and you are awarded an ICAN WINNER sticker plus one more for being the first during that week.
